All of us accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a reservation. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been just like you. Then in the 3rd week, a despair began to sneak in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking practically constantly when the depression set in, I started to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most ladies in your home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of everything. I believe it's time I provided you a complete image of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will come in useful later on. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this website is the detached home where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
