With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of women at house do what I do, stop and talk with the other ladies. It's a extremely little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all).
