We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly continuously when the depression set in, I started to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past your house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and state that most females in your home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of it all. I believe it's time I offered you a total image of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in useful in the future. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her husband and remains in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself.
